Europe set for feast of 3D sports

A number of European pay TV operators have announced plans to broadcast various sports in 3D over the coming months. In Poland, Canal Plus Sport will deliver the Real Madrid v FC Barcelona match in 3D on April 16 on the Canal Plus Cyfrowy DTH platform. The operator broadcast the reverse fixture in 3D last November.

Nordic pay TV operator Viasat will broadcast the Champions League match between Manchester United and Chelsea in 3D on April 12. Coverage will be available from 20:45 in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

Germany’s Sky Deutschland, meanwhile will broadcast the Masters Golf tournament from Augusta in 3D this weekend. The coverage starts at 23:30 tonight and at 23:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
