Canal Plus expands Canal Ready


Canal Plus has recruited more partners for its Canal Ready integrated TV initiative. The French pay TV operator said that TV set manufacturers Philips, Thomson, Sharp, Loewe and Funai will offer products carrying the Canal Ready label.

That means the sets or Blu-ray players have an integrated tuner that allows viewers to see digital terrestrial channels and to access Canal Plus’ pay channels. Sony, Samsung, LG, Toshiba, Panasonic and Techwood already make products carrying the Canal Ready label, which was launched last April.


Canal Plus said 3.6 million Canal Ready sets have been sold. It has launched a promotional offer, running until June 21, giving consumers that buy a set an €85 discount on certain Canal Plus subscriptions.
