German TV industry on the up, says VPRT

Germany’s commercial broadcasters association the Verband Privater Rundfunk und Telemedien (VPRT) has raised its forecast for the performance of the country’s TV industry this year.

The VPRT raised its expectations for advertising, pay TV and teleshopping revenues. It now expects growth of 6% for TV advertising, and 6% for pay TV revenues. Teleshopping revenue is expected to grow by as much as 12%.

In July, the VPRT had forecast annual growth of 4% for TV advertising, 5.4% for pay TV and 10% for tele-shopping. The TV advertising market for 2009 amounted to €3.6 billion, 9.8% down on the previous year, while pay TV revenues totaled €1.1 billion and tele-shopping €1.5 billion.
