Virgin Media reveals details of TiVo service

UK cable operator Virgin Media has revealed details of its new TiVo-powered connected TV service.

The new TiVo set-top box will be HD and 3D-enabled and will include 1TB of personal storage. The box will launch alongside Virgin Media’s new TiVo-powered next generation connected TV service scheduled for later this year, and will be capable of storing up to 500 hours of content.

The box will also feature its own dedicated internal modem able to deliver HD video and other online services over Virgin Media’s high-capacity network. The company is looking to differentiate its connected TV service by emphasising its ability to allow users to watch linear TV alongside on-demand and broadband-delivered HD content without having to sacrifice other online activities at the same time.
