Cogeco hails stabilisation of Cabovisão basic subs

Portuguese cable operator Cabovisão had 828,772 revenue-generating units at the end of August, up by just over 20,000 on the previous quarter. Digital TV subs numbered 159,852, up by just over 12,000, while broadband customers increased by just under 3,000 to 163,187.

Canadian parent Cogeco hailed the fourth fiscal quarter as showing a return to growth for the Portuguese operator, with the basic cable base stabilising despite stiff competition in the market. Basic cable subs numbered 260,267, up by about 1,600 quarter-on-quarter. However revenue fell by 19.2% to C$42 million, with operating income down 23.3% to C$8 million.
