Nickelodeon launches branded block in Kazakhstan

Nickelodeon is launching a branded pre-school block in Kazakhstan after striking a deal with the country’s public broadcaster Kazakhstan1. The Viacom-owned kids broadcaster will also launch a raft of programming in Afghanistan after inking a similar deal.

The company will launch a Nick Jr branded block on Balapan, the Kazakhstan broadcaster’s new kids channel that will include 204 episodes of Dora the Explorer, three seasons of Go, Diego, Go! and two seasons of Ni Hao, Kai-Lan. This is the first time Nickelodeon has launched a Nick Jr branded block anywhere in the world.

In Afghanistan, it has struck a deal with Ariana Television Network (ATN), a free-to-air satellite broadcaster, for two seasons of Dora the Explorer.

“We are looking forward to working with Kazakhstan1, Balapan and ATN to firmly establish the Nickelodeon brand as the destination for top quality animation for kids and families in Kazakhstan and Afghanistan,” said Maria Rakhmatullina-Ufland, sales director, MTV Networks International Emerging Markets.
