German cable operator Unitymedia has begun upgrading cable networks in the city of Kassel and the neighbouring town of Grebenstein in northern Hesse.
The Euro-DOCSIS 3.0-based upgrade will enable Unitymedia to offer internet speeds of up to 128Mbps to Kassel and Grebenstein residents.
Separately, the countrys third-largest operator Kabel BW has teamed up with the municipality of Ertingen in Upper Swabia in southern Württemberg to roll out high-speed internet in the area.
The move is part of Kabel BWÂs initiative to roll out high-speed internet in rural areas in the Baden-Württemberg region.
