Widevine to provide adaptive streaming for LG

Content security and web video specialist Widevine is to provide its live and on-demand adaptive streaming technology to consumer electronics manufacturer LG Electronics’ products internationally.

Widevine will provide LG with its virtual DVD controls and DRM as well as adaptive streaming. Widevine’s DRM and adaptive streaming software are already included in 2009 models of LG Blu-ray players and home theatres shipped in the US. This agreement enables LG to expand distribution to more devices, on a worldwide basis.
