Satlink delivers first underwater live HD

Israel-based teleport operator Satlink has delivered what it describes as the first-ever live HD broadcast of underwater filming from the Red Sea to the Photokina 2010 expo in Cologne, Germany.

Live feeds from 20 meters under the sea are delivered via a mobile production and transmission facility on the beach to the Eutelsat satellite position at 8° East. Video is delivered in the ASI format using MPEG-4 compression.
