Boxee to launch OTT set-top in Europe in November

US-based online TV provider Boxee is to join Apple and Google by launching an over-the-top TV set-top box in November.

Boxee will launch the device internationally. The box, manufactured by D-Link, will be available in a number of European countries including Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Macedonia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

The Boxee Box will also be available in Canada and Australia.

In the US, meanwhile, the device will be available exclusively from Amazon for pre-launch orders. The box, which will support full 1080p HD, will be available for US$199 (€154), US$100 more than Apple’s device, and will be based on the Intel Atom CE4100 processor. Boxee demonstrated a device running on Nvidia’s Tegra 2 platform at the CES show earlier this year.
In the UK, Boxee’s device will be priced at £199 (€238) and will include free and paid content from the BBC, CNN, Channel 4, YouTube and MTV amongst others.
