Canvas hit by fifth complaint

Complaints against Project Canvas, the planned internet TV service for the UK, are mounting after the Open Source Consortium (OSC), an industry body for companies that work in open standards software, announced it had formally written to Ofcom asking it to investigate the service, which is backed by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five, BT, Talk Talk and Arqiva.

The OSC said that Canvas will have “adverse consequences for the device and software sector, diminishing consumer choice and causing inevitable consumer harm”.

This complaint is the latest in a line of attacks against Canvas, joining Virgin Media, United for Local Television, IP Vision and Six TV.
