LG is “first choice” for BSkyB 3D TVs

UK pay-TV broadcaster BSkyB has inked a deal with TV manufacturer LG that will see the Korean company become the “first choice” supplier of TV sets to Sky’s subscribers.

The two companies, which inked the deal at the consumer technology show IFA, have already worked together to provide 3D TV sets in pubs to air Sky’s English Premier League coverage. News Corp-backed Sky is launching its Sky 3D channel in the UK and Ireland on October and will air a raft of films, sports events, documentaries and dramas.

“We believe in giving customers choice and as the only manufacturer so far committed to both active and passive TVs, we believe LG has the breadth of produce to offer a 3D TV experience for all Sky customers,” said Sky’s director of product management Hilary Perchard.
