Spain next on list for Vodafone IPTV

Vodafone España plans to launch an IPTV service by the end of this year, according to local reports.

The telecom operator’s chief executive for Spain, Fransisco Roman, told a conference at the Menéndez Pelayo International University in Santander that Vodafone would launch a TV service over ADSL that would include Spanish digital-terrestrial channels, including pay and HD services and would in the future also include web-based services and allow users to access home media via the TV. Vodafone currently provides mobile TV services in Spain.

The latest announcement follows this week’s planned launch of IPTV services by Vodafone in Germany, reported in yesterday’s DTVE Daily. Vodafone currently offers an IPTV service in Portugal.
