YouTube is set to launch a free movie service after signing deals with US studios Lionsgate, MGM and Sony Pictures, and UK online video service Blinkbox.
The new service, available at www.youtube.com/movies, will offer films including Buena Vista Social Club, Clan of the Cave Bear and a selection of Bollywood titles. The deal with Blinkbox, which charges for the rental of movies and TV shows, will see about 165 films made available on YouTube for free. Blinkbox will receive revenue from advertising around the films.
