Dutch FTTH makes progress

About 451,000 Dutch homes now have fibre-to-the-home connections, out of 568,000 homes passed, according to a study by Stratix Consulting.

The number of homes connected represents year-on-year growth of 108%, according to Stratix. Out of those, the number of homes that subscribe has grown by 56% to 217,000 over the last year.

Stratix found that most deployments were in smaller municipalities rather than large cities such as Amsterdam. The company predicts that the Netherlands will have 1.2 million homes connected to fibre by the end of 2012.
