RTL and ProSiebenSat.1 in talks to launch online TV service

German broadcasters RTL and ProSiebenSat.1 are in talks to launch an online video service modelled on successful US service Hulu.

The country’s two main broadcasters have reportedly met members of the country’s Federal Cartel Office as well as the European Commission over the viability of such a service. The service would be an open online platform that would air programming from all of Germany’s commercial and public broadcasters. They are expected to submit formal applications to authorities over the next few months.
