Dutch telco KPN grew its Interactieve TV IPTV customer base to 193,000 at the end of the second quarter, up from 147,000 three months previously, and from 62,000 at the same point last year.
KPNs digital-terrestrial TV base (via its Digitenne service) grew more slowly. It stood at 895,000 at the end of the second quarter, up from 886,000 three months previously and 828,000 at the end of the second quarter of 2009.
The shift of growth from Digitenne to the Interactieve TV service followed the upgrade of KPNÂs network based on the rollout of VDSL and a national marketing campaign. The two services combined give the operator a TV subscriber base of 1.1 million or a 14% market share, up from 13% at the end of the first quarter.
KPNÂs overall revenues for the quarter were down 1.7% at Â3.354bn, while EBITDA was up 4.8% at Â1.386bn.
