Virgin Media offers blockbuster before DVD release

Virgin Media has struck a deal with Warner Bros to offer Clash of the Titans on its VOD platform three days before the film is released in DVD in the UK. Customers ordering the movie will also receive a copy of the DVD.

The movie will be available via Virgin Media’s Movies on Demand service for £14.95 (€18). Customers will be able to watch the movie as many times as they’d like over a 48-hour period before receiving a DVD copy a few days later. It will be released on DVD on July 26th, from which time it will cost £3.95 on Virgin Media’s on-demand service.

Aleks Habdank, director of on demand television and strategy at the UK cable operator said the company was “actively exploring new commercial deals that make the most of our TV on demand platform”.
