Poland and Romania move forward with DTT

The first Polish digital terrestrial services will launch this September according to local press.

The trial DTT services will finally be able to roll out after Polish authorities publish the relevant licensing details. It is understood there will be three multiplexes. The first is expected to carry Polish public broadcaster TVP’s TVP1, TVP2 and TVP Info channels. The second will have channels from commercial broadcasters Polsat, TVN and TV Puls. A third multiplex will come into play around October and take the TVP channels, freeing space for other digital channels on multiplex one.

Separately, Romanian regulator ANCOM has identified seven possible candidates for the purchase of the country’s first two digital-terrestrial multiplexes, according to local reports.

The ANCOM list includes pay-TV leader RCS & RDS, incumbent telco Romtelecom, TDF, the Media Sat SRL National Radiocommunications Company, Österreichische Rundfunksender and General Satellite Sofia, according to the reports.
