CSA approves change from Virgin 17 to Direct Star

French media regulator the CSA has approved a change of name for digital channel Virgin 17 to Direct Star ahead of its sale by Lagardère Media-owned MCM Group to Bolloré Média.

The CSA approved changes made to the channel, having decided that transfer of ownership would not have an adverse impact on competition and having accepted a commitment by Bolloré not to substantially change the editorial mix of the channel, which primarily airs music programmes.

Separately, the CSA and the French Senate have given their approval to the appointment of Rémy Pfimlin as the new president of public broadcaster France Télévisions. The CSA approved Pfimlin’s appointment by six votes in favour against three abstentions.
