Swedish telco TeliaSonera is to invest SEK300m (31m) in building a new fibre network for the island of Gotland.
The telco has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Gotland authorities to build the network, which is expected to be completed in 2015.
TeliaSonera has separately called for greater clarity in the regulatory framework for investing in fibre networks. The company said it would continue to be cautious about building out fibre across the country unless there was a clear framework that would allow it to make a reasonable return on investment.
