Primacom seeks insolvency protection

German cable operator Primacom will file for insolvency protection from its creditors.

The troubled German cable operator made the announcement yesterday. It had hoped to avoid bankruptcy but its main creditors rebutted an attempt to delay repaying a €36m loan. Several rival operators, including Kabel Deutschland, Unitymedia and Kabel BW, are said to be keen on Primacom’s assets. The Escaline-Orion owned company is €340m in debt.
