Vectra closer to acquiring Aster

Vectra is edging closer to acquiring rival Polish cable operator Aster, according to local reports.

Aster chairman Janusz Arciszewski said it would appoint an investment advisor to handle a sale in the coming weeks. Vectra is the most likely suitor. If a deal went ahead, the combined company would pass UPC to become the country’s biggest cable operator.

Aster has approximately 380,000 customers and is majority owned by Mid Europa Partners. Vectra is currently Poland’s second-biggest cable operator with 753,000 customers.
