Hungarian pay-TV subscribers grow

The number of pay-TV subscribers in Hungary rose again in April, according to new figures from the telecommunications authority NHH.

The total number of subscribers increased from 2.509 million to 2.517 over the month. This equated to a rise in cable TV customers from 1.734 million to 1.739 million and an increase in satellite pay-TV subscribers from 775,616 to 778,006. UPC Hungary remained the leading pay-TV operator in the country with a market share of 30.9%, albeit down from 31.2% in March, while Magyar Telekom, which operates a cable and IPTV service, increased its share from 23.4% to 23.8%.
