CSA welcomes mobile TV agreement

French media regulator the CSA has welcomed the agreement between the country’s designated mobile TV channel providers and TDF for the latter to build the platform to deliver the service in metropolitan France (reported in yesterday’s DTVE Daily).

In April the CSA authorised 13 channels to deliver mobile TV services on top of three chosen by the government and gave them a deadline of two months to designate a platform operator. The channels and TDF have still to agree the technology platform for the service and the financial arrangements for the commercialisation of services, which will be delivered by mobile operator Virgin Mobile.

The CSA has yet to give a final authorisation to TDF’s Mobmux subsidiary to go ahead with the network build. The regulator said it would seek the opinion of mobile network operators.
