ARCEP hails fibre deployment plan

French telecom regulator ARCEP has welcomed a call by the country’s broadband service providers for co-investment to build out fibre networks to reach an additional 800,000 homes over the next year, doubling the 860,000 homes passed by fibre at the end of the first quarter of this year.

ARCEP said it would launch a public consultation on a plan to determine how networks should be deployed beyond the 5.5 million homes covered by the most densely populated areas.
