MTV renews Russia deal

MTV Networks International (MTVNI) has renewed a deal with ProfMedia granting its subsidiary Energia TV the rights to continue broadcasting a free-to-air, localised MTV service in Russia.

In addition to TV rights, MTVNI will grant Energia TV ancillary rights to the MTV brand in Russia including online, mobile and events. The agreement also grants Energia TV the right to broadcast all MTV live events including the MTV Movie Awards and the MTV EMAs.

MTV Russia launched in 1998 and is a 24-hour, free-to-air service that is operated as a part of MTVNI’s Emerging Markets group. The channel broadcasts to 40 million TV households, nearly 70% of the Russian population.
