YouSee and TDC grow TV sub base

Danish cable platform YouSee ended March with 1.167 million TV subscribers, a 3.4% year-on-year rise.

In the 12 months till the end of March, YouSee added 77,000 new broadband customers, giving it a total of 403,000. Telephony subscriber numbers were up 25,000 to 75,000. TV ARPU reached DKK201 (€27) per month during the first quarter, up from DKK185 a year earlier. YouSee reported first quarter revenues of DKK991m, up 16.7% year-on-year. EBITDA was up 20.5% to DKK323m.

YouSee’s owner telco TDC also reported strong growth for its IPTV service TDC TV, which increased its subscriber base to 103,000 from 38,000 a year earlier. TDC has also increased its triple-play take up, with 96,000 subscribers taking three services, up from 18,000. Fixed net broadband customers reached 705,000, up 15.8%. TDC reported revenues of DKK2.4bn for its consumer business, of which TDC TV services accounted for DKK87m, up from DKK23m a year earlier.
