Pan European broadcast group RTL has announced a significant upturn in TV advertising spend helped it record a 124% boost in quarterly profits. The company more than doubled its operating profits to 197m, up from Â87m last year as well as a 10% rise in revenues to Â1.3bn.
The company attributed the growth to a pick up in advertising markets across western European markets, particularly Germany, France and the UK. ÂCompared to a weak first quarter in 2009, most of the western European TV advertising markets recorded robust growth during the first quarter 2010, with Germany, France and the UK showing the best development, the company said in a statement.
