Unitymedia launches new HD service

German cable operator Unitymedia has launched a new HD service.

The operator is offering a HD DVR, which can record up to 150 hours of programming, for €5 per month when taken under a 24 month contract. The first three months are offered at half price to customers signing up by the end of the month. Customers must also pay an activation fee of €19.95. Unitymedia has five HD channels available from launch – Das Erste HD, ZDF HD, Arte HD, ServusTV HD and Sky Sports HD.

The operator has selected Ruwido to provide remote controls for the new HD set-top box.
