Lattelecom: decoder plan need not contravene state aid rules

Latvian telco Lattelecom has said it believes it will be able to find a way to proceed with its plan to supply disadvantaged households with free digital decoders that does not contravene EU state aid rules.

Lattelecom has indicated its willingness to provide 70,000 free decoders and a 25% reduction in the cost of receiving national broadcasting channels in exchange for certain frequency rights for the next five years.
