Ziggo and UPC Netherlands team up to secure mobile spectrum

Dutch cable operators Ziggo and UPC Netherlands have teamed up to secure licences to operate next-generation mobile services. The pair set up a joint venture to participate in the recent public auction to secure two blocks of 20MHz of spectrum in the 2.6GHz band.

Both operators plan to deliver bundled quad-play services. The Dutch government has also offered licences to KPN, Vodafone and T-Mobile. Prices to be paid have yet to be revealed.
