NDTV set for Middle East launch

Indian broadcaster NDTV is eyeing the launch of a bouquet of channels in the Middle East.

Executive chairman Prannoy Roy told delegates at the Abu Dhabi Media Summit that it hoped to launch a local news channel followed by an entertainment network. The company is currently in talks with local partners and will base the channels in either Dubai or Abu Dhabi. “We are only waiting for an upturn in the economy. We have a lot of synergies here in the Middle East; there’s a big Indian population and our channels are beaming in here,” he said.
