Virgin Media adds Discovery HD

UK cable operator Virgin Media is to add Discovery HD to its channel line-up, and will also boost its HD on-demand offer with the addition of Discovery content.

Discovery HD will be available 24-hours a day from this spring, offering shows including Extreme Engineering, Mythbusters, NASA’s Greatest Missions and Bear Grylls: Born Survivor. Virgin Media said it would further boost its HD offer later this year.

The company’s line-up of HD channels, soon also to include Eurosport HD, is available at no extra charge to XL pack TV customers.
Discovery Networks will make shows including HD version of Deadliest Catch and Miami Ink available on Virgin Media’s on-demand platform.
