Swisscom signs FTTH deal

Switzerland’s incumbent telco Swisscom has signed a deal with the Swiss Homeowners Association and the Zurich Real Estate Association to lay fibre-to-the-home.

Swisscom will finance cabling inside buildings to individual homes, marking the telco’s first commercial role out of FTTH having previously terminated fibre outside front doors. The telco said the move was in response to “fierce competition and strong momentum in the field of fibre-optic expansion”.
