One in six Danes downloads films illegally, says report

One in six Danes between 20 and 65 years of age regularly download films from the web or get homemade copies illegally, according to a survey carried out for Danish cable operator YouSee by YouGov Zapera.

According to the survey, Danes consume between eight and 12 million illegal copies of films a year, equivalent to about a quarter of the commercial market for cinema ticket sales and DVD rentals. The value of the illegal market was estimated to be between DKK0.25bn (€33.6bn) and DKK0.5bn a year.

The survey found that about 24% of 20-29 year olds regularly downloaded movies illegally.
