MTS eyes Russian cable market

Russian mobile operator MTS is eyeing a move into the cable TV market.

As well as expanding into the pay-TV market, MTS chief executive Mikhail Shamolin told local press that the company could use the networks to expand its broadband services, which would allow it to offer triple-play services. It is reportedly eyeing the launch in regional cities with between 100,000 to 200,000 households.
