Lithuanian telco Teo has condemned a news report on the countrys TV3 channel that Teo deputy general manager Nerijus Ivanauskas violated the law by taking part on public debates on an amendment to legislation providing for a transition from free to paid-for rebroadcasting of national commercial channels via distribution networks.
Teo said that it, together with the Lithuanian cable association and some public authorities, opposed the amendment and that the topic had been widely debated in the media, in which it had a right to participate. The company said the amendment was initiated by the Lithuanian Radio and Television Association, of which Laura Bazeviciute, general director of TV3, is president.
Seperately, Teo has begun covering the meetings of the countryÂs parliament, the Seimas, in the basic channel package of its Gala TV offering.
