Prisa is on the verge of selling a 20% stake in its pay-TV platform Digital Plus to Italy’s Mediaset as well as a controlling stake in its free-to-air channel Cuatro, according to local press reports.
The news comes as Sogecable, the TV unit of Prisa, has made three senior appointments at Digital Plus. Alex Martinez Roig, Manuel Mirat and Domingo Nieto have been appointed general directors. Mirat has been appointed CEO, while Roig will be responsible for content, including acquisitions and rights management. Nieto has been appointed as chief operating officer.
Sogecable said the management reshuffle was intended to strengthen Digital Plus content offering, as well as to boost promotion, marketing and distribution.
Last month. Spanish telco Telefónica agreed to pay Â470m for a 21% share of Digital Plus.
