Astra to offer broadband in Middle East

SES Astra is to offer its broadband via satellite service Astra2Connect in the Middle East next year.

The satellite operator has signed a second deal with ISP Intersat Africa to market Astra2Connect in Middle Eastern countries. It will offer four download packages of up to 2Mbps. The service will use capacity on Astra’s new 3B satellite, scheduled for launch next year.

Astra2Connect was first marketed in early 2007 and now serves 50,000 end-users in Europe.
