UK government publishes digital bill

The UK government has published a draft version of its Digital Economy Bill, setting out aims regarding the elimination or reduction of piracy on the web, targets for universal broadband coverage and the future of regional news.

Key measures include making broadband access of at least 2Mbps available to all, helped by a broadband tax, and anti-piracy measures that could enable illegal file-shares to be disconnected, as well as measures to boost regional news.
