The Finnish arm of Nordic telco TeliaSonera has launched a new cable TV offer in the Helsinki area.
Sonera Cable TV is offering a TV service comprising 120 channels, including 13 in HD, with the aim of capturing a 10% market share in the greater Helsinki area. Sonera has already signed a deal to provide cable services to 16,000 residents served by the Foundation for Student Housing (Hoas).
Sonera Cable TV currently is the number four operator in the country, providing cable TV in about 70 towns and localities in the country. The addition of Hoas takes the number of households it serves to 190,000. The cable operator is offering a range of packages, including 18 free channels and a 48-channel package for 24.90, to encourage housing associations to sign up.
