M6 acquires France-Ireland match from under nose of TF1

French commercial broadcaster M6 has confirmed its interest in developing a strong sports offer by acquiring the rights to show the forthcoming World Cup qualifying football match between France and the Republic of Ireland on November 14 in Ireland.

M6 reportedly spent under €5m in taking the rights from under the nose of commercial rival TF1, which holds the exclusive rights to France’s home matches.
