Thomson to supply set-tops for Hot HD

Israeli cable operator Hot is set to launch high definition services after striking a deal with set-top box manufacturer Thomson.

The company is upgrading its set-top boxes with HD-ready versions as it looks to provide a raft of HD channels to its 900,000 subscribers. The new boxes support both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 compression and support Open TV middleware and NDS VideoGuard conditional access.
