Dutch public broadcast chief calls for copyright rethink
Henk Hagoort, the head of the Dutch public broadcasting organisation Nederlandse Publieke Omroep (NPO), has called for the creation of a single body to collect copyright payments in the country, according to local press.
Hagoort has called for the government-sponsored creation of a single organisation to collect fees on behalf of rights-holders in place of the current patchwork of copyright collecting societies. He said the current system was unnecessarily expensive because of fees paid to the agencies themselves.
