Opera joins HbbTV consortium

Browser technology supplier Opera Software has joined the HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV) consortium.

HbbTV is a pan-European initiative to harmonise the hybrid delivery of video and other content to consumers through set-tops and internet connected TVs, based on existing standards initiatives including the Open IPTV Forum, CEA-2014 and W3C. An early public demonstration of HbbTV included Philips Net TV, powered by Opera Devices SDK.
