Internet advertising overtakes TV in the UK

Internet advertising in the UK has surpassed television advertising revenue for the first time, according to the Internet Advertising Bureau.

The research group noted that ad spend online grew by 4.6% in the first half of 2009 to £1.75bn (€1.91bn). This market share of 23.5% compared to television’s 21.9% as a result of a 17% slump in revenues this year. This report is significant as it marks the Internet as the biggest ad medium in the country for the first time.
