Ofcom begins VOD regulation consultation
UK regulator Ofcom has launched a consultation on its proposal that TV-like video-on-demand services in the UK be regulated by the Association for Television On Demand (ATVOD), while advertising on those services is regulated by the Advertising Standards Authority.
Under revised European law, content on VOD services including BBC iPlayer, 4OD, ITV Player, SkyPlayer and Demand Five will be regulated from December 19. BBC iPlayer will be jointly regulated by the BBC Trust and Ofcom. The consultation will close on October 26.
