Comstar-UTS progresses with regional consolidation

Russian service provider Comstar-UTS has competed the first phase of the reorganisation of its regional businesses through a merger of seven major subsidiaries into a single entity.

Comstar Regions, which comprises regional activies of Stream TV as well as telcos based in Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, Ryazan, Smolensk and Nizhny Novgorod, will be headed by former Stream TV director general Viktor Koresh. The company will have branches covering the Central, North-Western, Volga, Ural and Siberian federal districts.

The Comstar group currently has about four million phone subscribers, two million pay-TV subscribers and about one million broadband customers.
