Eutelsat and GlobeCast conclude TVR capacity deal

Broadcast services provider GlobeCast has signed a deal with satellite operator Eutelsat for capacity to be used by Romanian public broadcaster TVR.

The new contract for one transponder at 16º East will be used by GlobeCast to broadcast channels produced by TVR. It doubles the broadcaster’s capacity at 16º East and will enable it to increase signal quality for digital and HD broadcasting and to support new channel growth. TVR’s platform includes TVR International, a channel for Romanian expatriate communities across Europe, national channels TVR1, TVR2 and TVR3, as well as a various regional and thematic channels. Last year saw the launch of TVR HD, which carries premium sports events.
